Miles Makes Three – Family Photography

What to say about the Ballards…I LOVE THEM!  I celebrated my 30th birthday on their wedding day and I wouldn’t have it any other way.  When I heard they were having a baby I knew their little one would be one adorable munchkin and boy is he.  Not too long ago Deb and Jode moved their little family to Tampa so I took a little road trip to see their new home and meet baby Miles.  Of course, the house is so them and Miles is just as as cute as I expected him to be.  I just can’t wait to watch him grow up.  Love you, Deb and Jode!

The Brants

Every family has a different dynamic and this family’s was just wonderful.  I loved watching how each child reacted to having their picture taken.  The teen was not so excited, our little girl was ready to pose, and little munchkin was all smiles and all over the place.  They each had their own personalities but when we got them together I saw the deep sibling love they have for one another.  I just love families!  It was a beautiful windy day and it was a great time to hang out with the Brants.  Enjoy!

Christen & JBo – Engagement Pictures

Christen and JBo = a whole lot of fun!  I had such a great time hanging out and getting to know them a their engagement session.  We laughed, played with Mahi (their puppy doggy), ate scrumptious cupcakes, and chased the light.  Christen and JBo have magnetic personalities and I think I could hang out with them every day.  I am a strong believer in having laughter in a relationship and boy do they have it.  Seriously – so much fun!  They began their relationship long distance and are still going strong and I’m sure they are so ready to be in one place together.  I can’t wait for their June wedding in Ft. Lauderdale.

Christen and JBo, I am so excited to be part of your wedding and can’t wait for June to get here.  You guys are awesome and I’m so happy for you!  Enjoy!

The Sherrer Family – Jacksonville Beach

It all started when little Cate was about to arrive, then when she was born, and now I’ve met the whole family and Matilda the dog.  You know, I love photography – the art of capturing life lived out and the beauty around me, but I think what I love almost even more than that is when I get to know people.  I love how with this family I’ve slowly met them all, laughed with them, been welcomed into their homes and know I will see them again as their little ones grow.  So please meet the whole Sherrer gang.

Gary & Liz – Engaged

I’ve known Liz since I was child, but hadn’t seen her for a very long time until about 3 years ago.  Somehow, after Naomi died I found a group that she leads call FRIENDS Christian Cancer Care Group held the Beaches Baptist Hospital.  I began photographing events and meetings for her and we’d keep up on each other’s life. When I received the phone call that she was getting married again after loosing her husband to cancer years ago I was super excited and happy for her.  Then I got the pleasure of photographing her engagement session and wedding on a yacht!  Yay!  She and Gary are great together and it’s like I’ve seen Liz come alive again.  Their love story is truly God inspired and led.  I love that!

The three of us met down at Nippers for a quick engagement session and here’s some of what we got.

Brian & Kelly – Engagement Photos

Okay, so I was really shy growing up and I to this day I still fight it…usually before I meet a couple for their engagement session.  Let’s be honest…we’re all a little nervous.  I’m wondering what kind of a couple will they be – outgoing, shy, funny, reserved, romantic and kissy, casual or America’s next top model?  I’m sure every couple has a bit of nerves themselves.  Well, never had I seen someone who didn’t want to take pictures like Brain.  We took it slow, stuck to back streets, and paused a few times for the passersby.  I loved watching how Kelly was patient and encouraging – so important in a relationship.  To my delight and joy Brian and Kelly ended up being fantastic and I think we got some really great pictures of their love and relationship.  Yay, for getting over our nerves!

At “the Fix” with Jasmine Star

Golly Gee Willakers…there’s so much on my mind and heart and I want to share it ALL with you.  To put it all in one post would just bore you to death so I’ll be kind and start with the latest.  Saturday I braved the stormy weather and drove to Atlanta (with new tires thankfully) to see one of my all time favorite photographers, the fabulous Jasmine Star!  I’ve loved and respected her work, her writing, and her honesty and vulnerability for years.  Since she was so close to home I couldn’t pass up the chance to see her in person.

Her tour, The Fix, was all about “fixing” your business.  Jasmine’s message was that it’s better done together.  We, as photographers and wedding professionals, should unite to help each other out and to grow our businesses.  This message was perfect for where I am right now in my life and career.  I’m ready for a change, ready to make a different, ready to give.  These ideas had been floating around in my head and when I heard Jasmine speaking them I knew I was on the right track.  I’m a strong believer in finding peace in my decisions and even confirmation that I’m headed in the right direction and this workshop was just that for me.  I walked away with a renewed energy and determination to make 2012 the best yet.  Oh, and a picture with Jasmine!

The Fix took place at an awesome venue called The Foundry at Puritan Mill

and me with the fabulous J*.

BG & Lisa Davison – Jacksonville, Florida Wedding

There was something about BG and Lisa’s wedding day and love that kind of makes me melt inside.  At their engagement session I loved how they interacted…Lisa seemed to completely trust BG and he seemed lost in who she was.  Those feelings bled right on through to their wedding day.  While yes, it was a beautiful day, ceremony, and so much fun, at the root of it was a feeling like a sailboat on a calm sea.  I dream of one day floating on a sailboat with my wide brimmed hat and a good book.  Out there, on the open sea, you know there is potential of storm but somehow in that moment you know that know matter the storms that may come you’ll be safe. That’s how I felt watching BG and Lisa make a life commitment to one another.  They stood there as friends and lovers and right then on the day they wed they were that boat gently swaying in the calm seas.  They knew life could bring struggles but together they’d face them and become stronger.  I couldn’t be happier for the two of them and I only wish them all the best and many blessings.

Rob & Angelica – to dress up or to not dress up…

So, I give all of my couples a little questionnaire to fill out so I can get to know them a bit better.  I think I laughed out loud (because I thought it was so cute) that Rob and Angelica like to dress up in “funny costumes”.  I think that might be partly because they met at a Halloween party.  I had thoughts of costumes for their engagement session but they opted for a more casual, “just them” type of session.  We met at Club Continental on a beautiful afternoon.  We had a relaxed time getting to know one another and documenting their love that just seemed so natural and easy.  I’m so looking forward to their big day in August.  For now, enjoy “them”.
