Christy & Jackson

Meghan-Stewart-Photography-Peachtree-City-Family-Photographer_0026.jpgI have watched mothers for a long time. My friend, Shanna, says, “It’s like a piece of your heart walking around outside your body.” I’ve watched mothers cry while feeling like they haven’t done enough or messed up. I’ve heard of mothers praying unending for their sons and daughters. My friends have been worn out and tired from momming but I’ve also seen the light in their eye when they speak of their babies. I do believe mothering is one of the greatest blessings yet hardest things in life. Hats off to all you moms out there. You’re doing great!

When watching Christy & Jackson together, their love was evident. They laughed and played. They tickled and snuggled. It was very evident that Christy adores her son and Jackson clearly loves his mommy! As I shot and edited this session I couldn’t help but feel the gift of motherhood and the bond children have with their mothers – no matter how great or terrible their mothers are. Christy seems like one of the great ones!

I leave you with this poem. A Mother’s Love by Helen Steiner Rice

A Mother’s love is something
that no on can explain,
It is made of deep devotion
and of sacrifice and pain,
It is endless and unselfish
and enduring come what may
For nothing can destroy it
or take that love away . . .
It is patient and forgiving
when all others are forsaking,
And it never fails or falters
even though the heart is breaking . . .
It believes beyond believing
when the world around condemns,
And it glows with all the beauty
of the rarest, brightest gems . . .
It is far beyond defining,
it defies all explanation,
And it still remains a secret
like the mysteries of creation . . .
A many splendoured miracle
man cannot understand
And another wondrous evidence
of God’s tender guiding hand.
